WINEAUX Charles Smith Boom Boom Syrah, Washington 2008- EXPLOSIVE! Is one of the reviews and it is really an understatement, since we have been back to southern California, we have been drinking a slew of fabulous wines, this is one that sticks out in my mind. Powerful aromas of boysenberry jam and spice, this wine has a lu...sh texture and smooth finish. This is a great wine at an even better price. Price Range-Under $20.00

Casa Castillo Monastrell(Mourvedre) Jumilla 2007- Aromas of black cherry, raspberry and spice, this full bodied wine is aged in french and american oak with chalky tannins and a sweet finish. Wine Advocate gave this a 90. Price Range- Under $15.00

WINEAUX Chateau Paradis Terre De Provence 2007- Dear friends of ours are winophiles and send us new wines they discover. This was one of the wines they just sent, Bryan had said that this was definitley a food wine. I tasted it by itself and it was beautiful but when I had with my dinner it came alive. Aromas of blackberries a...nd anise with a hint of spice and smoke on the finish. Robert Parker gave this a 91

WINEAUX Ravenswood Cooke Zinfandel 2005-Aromas of blackberry and blueberry with a hint of spice. This is a full bodied zin, with a smooth velvety finish. This is the kind of wine that you could easily lose track of how many glasses you have had which seems to be happening to me tonight. Price Range- Under $ 60.00

WINEAUX Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay 2007 -Aromas of peach, pear and apple. Meduim bodied with good length and a crisp finish. It was Montelena that defeated the french in the famous Steven Spurrier tasting of 1976. Wine Spectator gave this wine a 91, Robert Parker gave it a 90. Price Range-Under $50.00

WINEAUX Woolridge creek Vineyard and Winery- Tucked away in the Applegate valley this winery is well worth the trip. The bottle that we ended up purchasing was the Terravow 2007- A blend of 60% Tempranillo,30% Zinfandel,10% Syrah. Aromas of cherry and plum, this is a well balanced wine that is so smooth and easy to drink, could easily lose track of how much you have consumed.

WINEAUX Juslyn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard Select 2003-Aromas of plum, black currant and tobacco, excellent balance and a long finish. This wine is a blend from the two famed vineyards of To Kalon in Oakville and Dr. Crane in St. Helena, aged in new french oak for 28 months. Robert Parker gave this wine a 91.

WINEAUX If you are ever in Jacksonville Oregon, you must stop by South Stage Cellars. They not only pour their wines but pour some of the wineries who buy their grapes. Everything we tasted was fabulous. One of my favorites was the Chateau Lorane Duirf(Petite Sirah) it was one of the smoothest petite sirah's I have ever tasted. Aromas of plum and cherry, full bodied and complex with a smokey oak finish.

WINEAUX Del Rio Vineyards -This Winery is a little hard to find because of road work that is being done but totally worth the effort. The winery and grounds are charming, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The wines are all great! My favorite was the 2008 Syrah. Aromas of plum, black currant,and thyme, full bodied, aged in 50% new oak gives it a spicy finish.

WINEAUX Quady North- This tasting room is in downtown Jacksonville, from the moment I stepped in I felt welcome. It could have been the fabulous selection of music they were playing. (The Cure,Editors..) The tasting began with the 2007 Viognier Steelhead Run Vineyard, not overly sweet with aromas of melon and pineapple and ...a bit of minerality on the finish. I am not normally a big fan of Viognier but loved this one!

WINEAUX Banfi Rosa Regale Brachetto D' Acqui 2004- Dark pink in color this semi-sweet sparkling wine from Italy's Piedmont region has aromas of rose petals and cherries. Strawberry and raspberry flavors with good balance and a dry finish. This wine pairs well with aperitifs as well as desserts(especially chocolate).

This zinfandel has aromas of plum and black pepper loaded with berry fruit, spice, and earth characteristics. Dark ruby in color, full-bodied, with silky smooth tannins. Robert Parker gave this wine a 90.
